Following the S&L debacle of the early 1990s, banks were encouraged to change their lending practices and improve their underwriting standards. To lower risks, banks diversified their loan portfolios and worked with Wall Street to sell assets. We will discuss this modern framework and what went wrong.

UNDERSTANDING EQUITY VALUATION
Identifying companies with good growth prospects is only part of the job of a portfolio manager. Buying stocks at reasonable prices is equally important and requires an understanding of valuation. In this workshop, we will discuss equity valuation and its role in stock selection. We will draw heavily on the framework developed by The Applied Finance Group, a Chicago-based valuation consultant to corporations and investment managers.
